Detox Diet

A detox diet is the type of diet that helps you in completely making your body detoxified by eliminating all the contaminants and toxins. A detox diet helps you in improving your health, digestion, energy, mental state, weight loss and then your resistance to many diseases. Some modifications are necessary with any detox diet, and some of them are increasing the consumption of fish such as salmon, fasting with juice, water fasting, restriction in the calorie-intake and making use of a herbal detox or master cleanse regarded as the lemonade diet. Another important thing is that you need to increase your intake of vegetables and fruits, reduce the consumption of processed foods and eliminate smoking and alcohol.

A detox diet plan is important because the human body ingests lots of food, water and air everyday and it is possible for the fat-soluble chemicals present in them to be deposited in the body cells. If you’re living with poor diet, your body will not be able to detoxify the chemicals and toxic waste will continue to build-up in your body, causing problems like illnesses, nutritional deficiencies, hormonal imbalance and a weak metabolism. These are some symptoms of the problems:

  • headaches
  • weight gain
  • feelings of fatigue and weakness
  • sore muscles and skin
  • heartburn
  • joint pains

However, immediately you start to live with a detox diet, those symptoms will not be there again. The normal reaction from your body is that you will have some discomfort in the first few days.

There are also some things that you should not expect with a detox diet. The diet is meant for helping you to overcome the different diseases which are caused by large quantities of toxins in the body. However, it does not cure every disease. This means that it is not a cure for the disease that is already in the body, even though such diseases might have been caused by the presence of toxins in the body.

It is possible to lose weight with detox diet because you are helping your body in activities like flushing of fat cells, water weight, and calorie reduction, and it is possible to have it as a permanent result provided you do not return to those eating habits that resulted in excess weight. The meaning of this is that if you were eating potato chips and cookies before you started with detox diet, and you later went back to all those things, the excess weight would return. The mistake that most people make is that there are some foods that they believe to contain low calories and low fat, but the reality is that they contain more of those things which may later not help them in their weight loss goals. For instance, avocado contains up to 3 times the calories and fat in a food like rice. With detox dieting, it is necessary to understand the different functions of the foods you’re eating.

These are the different types of detox diets are you may consider:

Nutritional supplements – intake of nutritious vitamins, powders and packaged protein snacks.

Fasting – drinking only water, broths or juices, or eating a particular type of food for a specific period. Your body will start burning fat for energy.

Specific detox diets – takes place between 6 and 30 days; quick detox diets exist for 1 and 3 days, and long detox diets for up to 8 weeks.

Hydrotherapy – detoxifying the body through the skin pores with the use of special baths.

You can try many of those things to help yourself to live a healthy life. It is necessary to understand that a detox diet does not solve your mental or emotional conditions like clinical depression, though many people always say that they felt less depressed during and after taking a detox diet. However, it is necessary to differentiate between clinical depression and situational depression. To overcome clinical depression, you need to involve some medications and detox dieting cannot function in that area. In the case of situational depression, you can use a detox diet to improve your situation because you are taking proper control of your health, body and situation. Therefore, the two types of depressions are different in many ways.

There are many benefits in taking detox diets. However, it is not ideal for children, nursing women and pregnant women. In addition, it is not good for people suffering from health conditions like kidney disease, anemia, liver disease, cancer, diabetes and low blood pressure.
